Wooden Homes
Reliable wooden homes information
How do wooden homes built in the 1920's last so long?
I'm a first time home buyer & have been looking to buy into an older historic neighborhood in Florida. I chose this area mainly b c I like the character of the homes and the location. Some of the homes are block, which I can understand why they're still standing, but others are wood frame with wood siding, etc. I'm curious about how these wooden homes have lasted so long without being devoured by termites? Also, if you live d in an older wooden home with siding, can you provide some tips on maintenance, problem areas or things to look for in general? Is maintenance expensive?Feel free to be thorough, best answer gets 10pts.
America... why wooden homes?
In the news again... another hurricane, storm etc etc and all them homes flattened Why, in America, do they insist on still building their homes out of timber when brick or stone like they do here in the UK would stand a better chance of not blowing away
